WAX MUSEUM
HISTORY


The museum is part of the Metropolitan Cultural Center through waxworks important episodes of the Quito recreate history. This recreates the events of August 2, 1810. According to the story a group of patriots wanted to free their comrades arrested in the headquarters of the Royal Court since the failed uprising of August 1809

On August 2, 1810 was the date set by the rebels to strike. A subdued the guards, other prisoners released, but the plan failed and the repression was brutal soldiery, were three hundred dead in this heroic and tragic day, the royalist soldiers attacked anyone who crossed them.

Alberto Mena Caamaño Museum is housed in a building of great historical trajectory, with the Palace of Government. The museum displays permanent the colonial and republican art. The interior keeps a valuable collection of objects and historical documents of the Royal Audience of Quito. In the museum of French art objects and the artist Alexander Barbieri, who based his work on the painter of Riobamba, César Villacrés are also displayed.

ATTRACTIONS

 It is known as the " Wax Museum " , because it represents the scene of the massacre of patriots August 2, 1810 in wax. The figures were made ​​in Paris by Alexander Barbieri , who modeled the paintings of César Villacrés in 1909 , painting lies in Eloy Alfaro Military College .
