HISTORY MUSEUM

The Interactive Museum of Science was founded in 2006 in the neighborhood of Chimbacalle, where once operated the old factory spinning and weaving "Industrial" from 1933 to 1965, when the company was seized and awarded to the insurance fund. Despite living an administrative change, the activities of the factory continued to be made almost uninterrupted until 1999; few years later, in 2001 the Metropolitan District of Quito took over the management of space.

Since its inception as a factory, this space was considered one of the main centers for the creation of the working class district of Chimbacalle, who emerged as one of the popular settlements most closely linked to industrial development in the city of Quito.

Since opening, the MIC continues establishing itself as the only museum in the country, which favors the visitor with multisensory, educational and cultural experiences of science.

MISSION

The MIC promotes communication, socialization and democratization of science, technology and ancestral knowledge, meeting spaces between people and between them and the knowledge, participatory way, interactive, exciting, entertaining and inclusive.

VIEW

In 2015 the MIC is recognized, at the district level, as an interactive space where you communicate, socialize, democratizes science, technology and ancestral knowledge, and promotes research as supportive factors for the construction of citizenship and development local.

HOW TO GET?

The MIC is located in the center-south of the city, within the South Zonal Administration Eloy Alfaro and adjoins the river Machángara perimeter. Its extension has an area of 60,000 square meters of exhibition spaces, places for workshops, green areas and services accessible to the public.
