HISTORY

CREATION AND IMPORTANCE:
Traversari teacher dreams crystallized first, the May 9, 1950, when it opened the museum in Quito, on the ground floor of the house of Mrs. Rosario Perez Ordonez. A year later, on May 1, 1951, the House of Ecuadorian Culture "Benjamín Carrión" solves the acquisition of the collection of about a thousand pieces classified in forty-two collections, with a length of three thousand years before Christ, and it provides that the museum would continue led by its founder and bear his name. In 1974, Richard Rephann, Director of the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments, who with the support of the Organization of American States, making the cataloging of the instruments in the collection, sorting according to, as amended by Internacionale Committee Hornbostel-Sachs method des Museum Art Collection. With this advice, the museum was organized with international standards governing such museums in the world. Unlike us their teaching in schools and colleges on musical instruments like wind, string and blow; they have been classified into four groups: idiophones, aerophones, stringed instruments and membranophones and recently added the fifth group of electrophones. Currently on display are five hundred eighty-four pieces, the remaining reserves are in the museum.

BIOGRAPHY OF PEDRO PABLO TRAVERSARI
Pedro Pablo Traversari .- Quito Composer and band. He began his musical studies with his father and then at the Conservatory of Santiago de Chile and continued his musical education in flute, cello, bass and musical composition. In 1950, he decided to sell his collection to the House of Ecuadorian Culture. The official ceremony took place on May 1, 1951. It would be a few years of this event, when the July 6, 1956 died in Quito, at the age of 82 years.

LOCATION

The House of Ecuadorian Culture is the most important institution dedicated to the promotion, dissemination and preservation of art and identity of peoples of Ecuador. ROOMS

HALL OF CONTEMPORARY ART
In this room we can find very different works of ancient art. There are pictures of all kinds, each frame has something to say or a different meaning.
In this room there are experts who are responsible for restoring leaving them as new pictures by careful process to avoid damaging the paint.
Find pictures of all kinds, from those who usually know so very beautiful pictures made with nails of different sizes. We can see that there are two huge masks miss with scrap metal and nails near the end of the room.


ROOM MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
In this room we can see a variety of instruments used in ancient times. There are instruments made of ceramic, wood, with the shells of animals such as turtle. Made of shell in Dode make two holes for it may sound. Also we find simple and rare instruments which only move to ring.

LIVING THE LIFE OF OUR ANCESTORS
In this room you can see the customs, beliefs, clothing, materials used for hunting, weaving, etc.
We note that wore long skirts, white shirts, many ornaments, sandals etc.
They had an extensive variety with weapons, baskets used to collect or store food there, they had already developed the textile industry so we see a very old sewing machine.
We can also see that to cure people used different herbs which were very effective.
