MILITARY GEOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE
The Military Geographic Institute or IGM performs
didactic projections about the origin of the planets, the development of
galaxies and the formation of the constellations. In addition, the meeting is
complemented by talks in which the technology used to record the sky review.
It has a small curve concrete and steel structure,
with horizontal lines that give strength to design and make the building
visible from various points of the city. Access to the facility is through stairs
in the grand entrance hall. The main attraction is the planetarium, which
consists of a prism, crowned by a dome made of mesh and concrete.
DESCRIPTION
The place has the ability to group 350 people. The
diameter of the dome is 25 m and its height from the floor to the zenith is 12
m. The structure is reinforced concrete, covered by a German screen. On site,

HISTORY
Dr. Isidro Ayora was who created the Geographic
Military Service as a Department attached to the Army. In 1947, during the
presidential term of Dr. José María Velasco Ibarra, he was elevated to the
status of Institute. It is the institution that chart every inch the true
